Proxmox Setup Baseline

Purpose

This guide captures a minimal Proxmox VE baseline for homelab nodes before production-like workloads are placed on them.

Checklist

• Confirm management IP, hostname, DNS, and NTP are correct.
• Apply package updates and reboot into the expected kernel.
• Configure storage pools before creating VMs or containers.
• Define backup targets and retention policy early.
• Validate that the web UI is reachable only from trusted networks.

Notes

Keep node-specific values out of public notes. Store sensitive inventory details in the private homelab inventory instead.
